| What is the Shell Eco-marathon? | Who is the VUB EcoTeam? | What is the Bluecorner EV? |
| The Shell Eco-marathon is a worldwide competition that challenges students from around the world to design, build and test the most energy saving vehicle they can. This year's European competition takes place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. More info |
We are a group of motivated and ambitious engineering students of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Our team is comprised of engineering students, mostly specializing in electro mechanics. More info |
The Bluecorner EV is the name of the vehicle that will pariticipate in the Eco-marathon 2012. Its name was bought by our sponsor Bluecorner. |
The Eco-marathon hasn't officially begun yet, but the VUB EcoTeam is already on-site and making the final preparations. Below are their latest updates. See all the posts here.
We have passed the technical inspection! Tomorrow we can start to test the Bluecorner EV at the street track.
fixing the last problems (brakes, top shell), almost off to the safety control. Koppen starts to get impatient, but they filmed already a lot of action this morning.
Repainting of the car is almost finished. After a shower and a short night sleep, we must be present tomorrow for the records of koppen.
it's going to be a long night @ the paddocks at the Shell Eco-marathon.
Today in the afternoon the second part of the group arrived. They brought the few things the other forgot the day before (chairs, tables, cups, plates,…). On the campsite the last arrangements are taken to stay the whole week. The last small tents are set up and the large tent was assembled. Because we forgot our tent pegs, as good engineers we used some nails to secure the tent.
After the set-up we played a match of football and when we were tired, we sat down to drink a beer.
Later the banner of the team was attached on the tent, so everybody could directly see the team camping area.
A tour of the paddock area teaches us that the competition will be fierce. The next few pictures give an overview of a few opponents.
